Chronic pain? Sleepless nights?
Do you experience headaches, TMJ problems, neck or shoulder pain, or occasionally choke on foods or liquids? Do you suffer from sleep apnea, snoring or just wake up tired? Your pain and discomfort could be the result of a problem with the muscles in your tongue and throat. Put simply: your body has to breathe and will do whatever it can to make sure that you don’t choke. If your airway is threatened, your body works overtime causing muscle strain and anxiety. The solution? A revolutionary concept called Oral Systemic Balance. Watch the video to see Dr. Lawler describe how Oral Systemic Balance (or OSB) helps you feel better.
What is Oral Systemic Balance?
Oral Systemic Balance is a retainer-like device that helps support your airway. Breathing becomes easier. Muscles begin to relax. As breathing improves, patients experience a reduction in pain and anxiety. If you experience head and neck pain, sleep problems, or problems swallowing, very often Oral Systemic Balance can provide immediate relief.
If you suffer from chronic neck and shoulder pain, restricted airflow could be the cause. OSB Therapy helps to support your airway causing the muscles in your neck and shoulders to relax. Our patients have reported a drastic decrease in neck pain in as little as a few minutes. Learn More
Do you experience tightness in your chest and throat? Do food or liquids go down the wrong pipe? Do you have a hard time swallowing pills? Is there a constant fear of choking? You are not alone. Many of our patients suffer from a constricted airway which causes tension in the muscles of the throat and chest which causes difficulty swallowing, shallow breathing, occasional choking, and overall tightness and discomfort in the chest and throat. OSB Therapy helps support your throat muscles reducing pain and tightness and restoring the ability to swallow and breathe easily.

Dr. Lawler has a practice limited to the management of temporomandibular joint pain (TMJ), chronic head and neck pain as well as the management of sleep-related breathing disorders.
While traditional medical approaches consider chronic head and neck pain and sleep-related breathing disorders such as sleep apnea to be separate, unrelated issues, Dr. Lawler sees them as related conditions. His practice, devoted to helping people feel better, is unique in Indiana.
Dr. Lawler is the only dentist in southern Indiana board certified by the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine.
Dr. Lawler is also a certified Oral Systemic Balance practitioner and is a part of a core group of students working with Dr. Farrand Robson, the developer of Oral Systemic Balance.
Dr. Robson's work is groundbreaking and has revealed the most basic physiologic system in the body and the oral origin of a variety of often debilitating symptoms as well as the neuromuscular mechanisms that maintain the oral system.
The therapeutic system Dr. Robson developed is based on these discoveries and is designed to be broadly used by trained practitioners.
